Being a Southern artist, I am very proud of my
Southern Heritage. Once a year I do a series
of work that portray memories I have of the South.
Everyone remembers the old grocery stores with the
wooden floors or the old wooden churches at the end
of some obscure dirt road. Many a day of mine
was spent reading comic books in these old stores
and many a Sunday was spent sitting on a hard bench
getting a good dose of southern religion.
My
realism work consists of actual screen doors with individuals
from the South painted behind them on canvas.
On the front of the doors are antique metal
signs
reflecting the era. I am passionate about preserving history and
through my work, I hope to portray a Southern,
more simple way of life. I hope you can appreciate the
originality of each
door and the historic value they
represent. I take great pride in doing
something
so unique in the art world that is
a reflection of our
American past.
